Making a list at the end of each day to do the following day is something I have attended to every working day of my life for as long as I can remember…
I have also learned that if there are more than 7 items then you are occupying your time with the urgent before the important.
A successfully run business should not have urgent things to do; they do not arise – unless there is an emergency…
because when things are done when they should be done, how can they become urgent?
Only things that are put off or delayed for any reason whatsoever…
and the reasons are usually procrastination or indecision – become urgent.
If you have to list more than 7 then you are either engaging on a new venture and the list is defining what needs to be done over a specific period of time, or you are simply not attending to what you should be doing and not delegating enough.
Success comes from saying no to the myriad of things available to do that either put you on the wrong track or make you try to do too much.
