Tabloid Conjecture

The worst of times have always been the stimulus for the best of business…

Yet problematic periods can also stimulate negative thinking.

The tabloid news model, based on conjecture and blame, for example, must not be adopted by business…

Conjecture – meaning an opinion or conclusion based on incomplete information – is usually a prelude to blame…

And forgetting the full facts…must not be replaced by a rally for remorse and resignation.

In business good judgement is based on experience, which in turn is mostly earned from bad judgement.

Developing a culture that is intent on locating blame, rather than finding a solution, will never be a success story...

because the focus of attention will always be on what can’t be done, rather than what could be achieved…

History records that asking for permission can stifle innovation – the creative key that gives a company its edge.

So, what to do?

Whenever you really believe in what must be done, then it is far better to go ahead and do it.

Because in the long run, asking for forgiveness, beats asking for permission.
