Control the phone

View any busy street and you will see people, even couples walking and talking individually on line...

Indeed 3 out of every 5 people crossing our survey section in London were on the phone.

But is any business really being done?

If they are building relationships and following through, then the answer is yes...

If not, then they are a distracting waste of time.

Mobile phones may well improve the availability of contacts and the speed of doing business, but ultimately good business is about one thing: delivering better-than-excellent service – the vital constant that all of us ever really want, hope, expect, even demand.

To take a call in the restroom, even at the urinal, as I have witnessed some ‘business executives’ doing, is a massive disservice to clients.

There is a difference between being just contactable and delivering good service...

For my part I am always prepared for every call, in my office, with all my notes around me so I deliver the best advice available.

It is the one constant that successful business must never change…

We must be the master of progress, rather than its slave.
